Australis Cruise (Ushuaia – Punta Arenas)

Description

In this excursion, you will be participating in one of the most famous expedition cruises in the world. You will sail through the most austral seas, get to know uncharted corners of the world and enjoy an untouched nature.

Day 1: Ushuaia
Right about 5 p.m., after the check in, that can be done any moment from 9 am. to 4 pm. in San Martín 245 in Ushuaia, you will embark the Australis cruise. The crew, leaded by the captain, will be awaiting your arrival and will welcome you with a cocktail served for the passenger of the ship. Right away, the cruise sets off headed to the mythical Beagle Channel.

Day 2: Cabo de Hornos and Bahía Wulaia
Navigation through Beagle and Murray Channels and then, there is a disembarkation in Cabo de Hornos (Cape Horn) National Park. Cabo de Hornos, is an almost vertical promontory of 425 meters of height found in the place where the Atlantic and the Pacific oceans meet.
During the afternoon, you will disembark in Wulaia Bay, a historic place which once was the biggest settlement in the area. This place counts on, as well, beautiful views and dashing landscapes. From here, there is a stroll through the Magellan forest until reaching a viewpoint.

Day 3: Seno Chico
Disembarkation in Seno Chico in order to approach the Piloto and Nena Glaciers by boat (zodiacs). The navigation continues further until disembarking in Águila Glacier’s bay for a soft stroll through a beach bordering a lake which leads to the glacier.

Day 4: Magdalena Island – Punta Arenas
First thing in the morning, you will be leaving the ship in Magdalena Island which is home to a colony of Magellan penguins of above 120.000 specimens. While in the island, you’ll tour around until reaching the lighthouse, guide to the ships crossing through the strait. Once the visit has finished, the return to Punta Arenas begins. Disembarkation at 11:30 am approximately.

Note:
The rate includes breakfasts, lunches and dinners, open bar, daily disembarking for the excursions, welcome and farewell cocktails, hot cocoa and whisky while in the excursions to the glaciers and the activities while in the craft.
The cruise might be in the crafts Stella or Via indistinctly.
There is little store aboard which sells sports clothing, gifts and several other items. All the buying while in the ship can be done through Visa, Masterdard, American Express, Diners, traveller’s checks, American dollars, Euros and Chilean pesos.
Sports clothing is recommended while in the cruise, in order to feel comfortable. You must take into account that the summer nights, and even the days, are cold this is why we suggest packing sweaters, trousers, gloves, trekking boots for the excursion as well as warms coats and hat or caps maybe.

The cruise does not count on elevator or any other service for handicapped passengers. The official languages aboard are Spanish and English, but there are also French, German and Italian speaking guides. Animals or any pets are not allowed aboard.
