It is a work by the architect and engineer Santiago Calatrava, who had a Valencian origin. This pedestrian and movable bridge has marked a new profile in the city in the exclusive area of Puerto Madero, joining the two places that have extended the city towards the Río de la Plata. The work was completely made in Spain and it was donated to the city by the business man Alberto González.
This bridge measures 160m long and 5m width, with a 39 m tall metallic arm that can be seen from different spots in the area. It has modern characteristics and a great deal of plastic beauty, the work resembles the image of a couple dancing tango. The woman is represented by the curved silhouette and the man is represented by the tall white pole. It has a unique rotation mechanism controlled by computer that allows for movement and rotation every time a ship wants to pass.
