Address: Centro de la Plaza de Mayo s/n – Monserrat
This monument that stands in the middle of Plaza de Mayo was originally an obelisk constructed as the symbol of the first anniversary of the “Revolución de Mayo” in 1811. Later, in 1856, the artist Prilidano Pueyrredón transformed it by putting a statue of liberty on top, a work by the French sculptor Dubordieu, even though it maintained the interior structure.
