The beginnings of the building of this church date back to 1932 and they are linked to the Jesuit fathers until 1939 when it was gifted to the Redentorist fathers. The founder of this beautiful work was the Cardinal Luis Santiago Copello who declared it center of the Christian religious practices.
This church is imposing despite of its simple brick style. It has a bell tower with three huge bells whose sound indicates mass time.
Sofía passage separates the San Alfonso church from the Petronila Rodriguez state school founded in 1934. This school used to work as a women-only institution but in the 16’s it became for both sexes.
