Address: Florida 336 – San Nicolás
This is a representative building of the French academicism that signed the urban profile of Buenos Aires in the 20s, dragging a past filled with artistic and cultural history. It was inaugurated in 1927, owing its creation to Max Glucksmann whose aim was to create a venue assigned to work with excellence in different artistic disciplines. It had photography studies and recording rooms for radio and film production, equipped with the latest technology; Gardel among other great stars recorded their songs there. Years later, it was acquired by Pedro García who, since the foundation of his bookstore ‘El Ateneo’, worked in one of the first intellectual associations of the country. It was the venue for the School of Fine Arts, among other cultural institutions, and has become, since then, one of the most classic bookstores in the city, always a point of contact for intellectuals, artists and political figures. It is worth taking a look at this building that extends up to the sky in tight Florida Street and delighting oneself with all the Art Nouveau signs filled with much beauty that gives frame to one of the sites of greatest cultural history in the country.
