The CGT (literally, the General Confederation of Labour) is a union organization that influenced the course of Argentinian history. Its origin dates back to 1930 as a result of the agreement between socialist and union workers plus other associations.
It had a role of paramount importance for peronismo on October, 17, 1945 when it managed to free Juan Domingo Perón and to call for elections that made peronismo win.
