Address: Alsina 463 – Monserrat
It was built in 1836. It is one of the very few typical houses with patios that have barely survived the Buenos Aires modernity. The façade shows influences of the Italian renaissance and its door keeps the board structure that was used at the times of the colony. On the ground floor, there were shops and on the upper floors is where the Ezcurra family lived. The Ezcurras were very important for the development of the country. This was the place where most of the political life developed due to the fact that it was an important place for meetings held by its owner, María Josefa Ezcurra, who was Mr. Juan Manuel de Rosas’ sister-in-law.
This house is also part of Argentinian literature since it was the setting for José Marmol’s novel, “Amalia”.
