It was created around 1884 being an initiative of its settlers, under the motto “Where theres a will, theres a way.”. In spite of the clarity of its spirit, this institution underwent several types of legal barriers that prevented their involvement in the area, for example the time when a decree by the government prevented them from acting in cases of fire. Nevertheless, they are quite famous due to the community service they provide, they have been directly involved during the severe floodings this neighbourhood underwent in the past because of the Riachuelo’s overflowing. It was also known for its important performance during the tragic yellow fever epidemic of the year 1871.
