At 17 Km. from the city, the Grotto of Lourdes is a beautiful sanctuary erected in 1947 and visited since then by both faithful and non-believers due to its particular appeal.
You have to travel first 14 km. by National Route 281, paved, access to the city, and then 3 km. more for a detour of gravel. It is located in the Cañadón de las Bandurrias, a wide ravine that flows into the estuary, with walls that reach 20 meters. The sector where the cave is located crosses a massif of volcanic rocks formed more than 150 million years ago.
