On a sailboat along the Beagle

Patagonia-argentina.com keeps proposing exclusive treats. Now we put forward to you this sailboat circuit along the Beagle Channel, the most suitable option to sink deeply into the endless silence of the end of the world. You will only hear the sound of the sea, the birds, and the wind around you. This also implies the pleasure of being driven by experts, among the most southern islands.

This ride lets you experience a one-day exploration of the channels of Tierra del Fuego; it covers a small part of the whole extension of channels, but is definitely abundant in experiences and emotions.

The sailboat, “El Remanso III”, has a size ideal to get close to the flora and fauna of the area. Easy to operate, it is roomy both in the interior and the exterior, being even more comfortable than others of the same type, and complies with all legal regulations. And it has a plus: the quietness, the smooth slide along the water, hardly audible, that allows passengers to apprehend the best of nature.

This peculiar trip can only include up to 8 passengers.

The route

Departure is about 9am, from someplace previously agreed upon. The shore of Tierra del Fuego National Park, featuring Bahía Lapataia and Isla Redonda, are the first spots to visit. Close to midday, the aim is Bahía Cucharita, inside the National Park, where passengers can descend, wander around freely and have lunch.

This meal deserves special treat, being that the tasting of several smoked goods (boar, lamb, deer, salami and cheese) combined with the best types of argentine wine, in the middle of the National Park, constitutes a superior pleasure.

Afterwards, the trip goes on to Isla Despard, where there is a colony of Royal and Imperial Cormorants. Pictures will record the view of these majestic birds.

Isla Alicia, the following target, shelters a colony of sea lions, with a varying number according to the season. One more picture, and it makes…

Shortly afterwards, the silhouette of the Les Éclaireurs lighthouse will be seen in the middle of the sea, on a gigantic rock. Take note it is not the lighthouse of the end of the world, “Faro del Fin del Mundo”, even though it is one of the most beautiful of the southern sea.

Teatime approaches. A coffee, a tea, or the classic mate and something sweet will be the excuse for a moment to share experiences.

Finally, as everything comes to an end, even the amazing moments, the boat will set back to Ushuaia, at about 6pm, 9 hours after having embarked; however, no measure accounts for the time of emotions. When the distress of daily life seems overwhelming, the mental pictures of the moments along the channels, never to be forgotten, will result appeasing.
